Privacy Policy

Mizan for iPhone and Android · Effective: October 3, 2026

  • Your financial data (transactions, accounts, budgets, statements) is stored and processed only on your device. No account, no server of ours, no ads, no analytics, no selling or sharing of your data.
  • Pasted bank messages, imported statements and receipt photos are processed on-device and never uploaded. On Android the captured receipt photo is kept temporarily in the app cache and overwritten on the next capture; on iPhone it is not stored at all.
  • iPhone — iCloud sync (optional, off by default): when enabled, a copy of your data is stored in your own private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit so it appears on your iPhone and iPad. We have no access to it and it never passes through any server of ours.
  • iPhone — widgets and Control Center: the app writes a formatted summary of your numbers to an on-device shared container that the widgets read. It never leaves the device.
  • iPhone — Shortcuts: the app does not read your messages. If you build your own Shortcuts automation that hands a bank message's text to Mizan, the text is processed on-device to log the expense. Nothing runs unless you set it up yourself.
  • iPhone — Face ID (optional) is used only to lock the app; authentication is performed by the system and the app never accesses your face data. Camera access is requested only when scanning a receipt. Notifications are local reminders scheduled on your device.
  • Android — notification access (optional): if you enable Auto-logging, the app reads incoming notification text on-device to detect bank transaction notifications. Non-bank notifications are ignored and not stored. Nothing leaves the device. A disclosure and your consent are shown before the permission is requested.
  • iPhone — Mizan Pro and purchases: subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple's App Store. We never receive your payment details, name or email; the app only learns, on your device, whether a subscription is active, and does not send that to any server of ours. You manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings.
  • iPhone — problem reports (optional): if something fails, the app offers a technical report with no amounts, names or message text, which you can read first. Nothing is sent automatically. If you choose to email it, it is sent from your own mail account, so we learn your email address; we use it only to reply and fix the problem, and share it with no one.
  • Android only: the app uses Google ML Kit (on-device text and barcode recognition). Per Google's disclosure, ML Kit sends diagnostics and usage analytics to Google (device and app information, device or installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, input/output sizes, event types and error codes), encrypted in transit and not shared with third parties. It does not include your images, receipt text, messages or financial data. See ML Kit data disclosure. The iPhone version does not use this library and contacts only Apple services: iCloud if you enable sync, and the App Store for Mizan Pro.
  • Google's automatic cloud backup is disabled on Android; on iPhone automatic backups are kept on the device only. Manual backups are files you create and store yourself.
  • Delete all data in-app (Settings → Backup → Delete all data) or by uninstalling; on iPhone, also remove the app's data from your iCloud settings if sync was enabled. The app is not directed to children.
